winter 2015/16 Grant Work Day Logs

The following is a list of the day by day work and actions that were undertaken during the civil engineering and installation works under taken at Stalybridge Archery Club between November 2015 and April 2016.

 

Monday 30th November 2015.

Time:                8.30am.

Weather:           Wet Very Wet.

Activity:             First day on the site Eagle Landscape Civil Engineering staff, Andy and Michael. Marking out, Preparation work and clearing space for their vehicles in our car park. Big yellow cabin moved on site.

 

 

 

Tuesday 1st December 2015.

Time:        Midday on site.

Weather:    Wet and Overcast.

Activity:     Main entry road into the clubs grounds from Mottram road is being dug out and altered in shape with a longer curved entry, for easier access, and a temporary road surface of crushed stone laid on it. The truck driver was Ryan, Andy was doing general work and another Andy was the Digger driver.

 

 

wednesday 2nd December 2015.

Time:        Mid-morning on site

Weather:    Dry and overcast

Activity:     The temporary main entry road into the clubs grounds is being completed, the entry is now a lot easier for big vehicles to pass along

 

 

Thursday 3rd December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Wet and Overcast.

Activity:     The engineers have started digging out the ground for the sewer entry point, mid field, and assembling the sewer 3 way connection pipe.

 

 

Friday 4th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Wet and Overcast.

Activity:     The engineers have started digging out the land to the left hand side next to the conifer hedge on the entry to the field and preparing it for resurfacing. This will be our additional car parking area.

 

 

Monday 7th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Good Sunny and Dry.

Activity:     The engineers have started digging out the foundations for the Gabion wall and sewer piping. Two machines on site and all spoil is being sorted for later use. A large quantity of pea gravel was also dropped off for later use.

 

 

 

 

 

Tuesday 8th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Good Little Rain.

Activity:     The digging out of the foundations for the Gabion wall and sewer piping ongoing. Two 100 yard distance marker positions confirmed so that the Gabion are positioned correctly'. The sewer pipe trench from the entry point to the inspection cap by the club house cuts through solid yellow clay the pipe is set on pea gravel and is about 4 feet down in parts. The trench for the water pipe from the Mottram road side stand pipe supply and an empty electrical pipe for later use has been laid in the trench and run as far as the car park entry point, both pipes are about 3 feet down.1 pipe is red and 1 pipe is blue.

 

 

 

 

 

Wednesday 9th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Good no Rain.

Activity:     The mid field sewer piping trench is being back filled by the digger. The sewer pipe has also been fitted up to an inspection point just off to the side of the clubhouse entry door. The trees next to the clubhouse at the rear have been cut down in the area where the toilet block will be installed. The Gabion wall base is now being made solid to accept the empty wire Gabion boxes.

 

 

 

Thursday 10th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Dry and Mild.

Activity:     The last wooden panels along the back line and to the clubhouse have been removed and the toilet block base is being dug out by digger and all spoil is being dumped on the field. This is in preparation for the toilet block concrete base.

 

 

Friday 11th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Dry and Mild.

Activity:     The toilet block base has now been prepared with stone chippings and cement, this will slowly set and go hard. The red and blue pipe trench has been partly back filled. The original concrete access ramp into the clubhouse has been removed.

 

 

 

 

Monday 14th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Wet.

Activity:     No one on site.

 

Tuesday 15th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Overcast and Mild.

Activity:     The clubhouse rear door metal ramp has been removed from site. The trench for the water and electricity over the entry road has been in filled to permit entry. The existing live electrical power cable feeding our clubhouse deep down has been damaged by the digger whilst digging a trench out. We did not lose our power to the clubhouse and a survey is to be carried out to correct the damage. Spur pipe prepared for the clubhouse water supply from the toilet block.

 

 

Wednesday 16th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Mild Dull and Damp.

Activity:     Both the water pipe and the empty electricity tube have now been brought up to the toilet block inspection point, the water pipe will continue onto the sink in the clubhouse. A trench has been dug out for the Gabion cages, which have just arrived on site (flat back style), workmen are making them up and putting them into position in the prepared trenches. The workmen have been given a clubhouse door entry fob.

 

 

Friday 18th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Mild Dull and Damp.

Activity:     No one on site.

 

Monday 21st December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Over Cast-Windy-Rain and Cold.

Activity:     Large quantities of sandstone rubble dropped off on site (The stone is from the Buckton quarry at lower Mossley). The Gabion lower cages are being filled with the sand stone rubble.

 

 

Tuesday 22nd December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Rain early on and Dry later then Overcast-Warm.

Activity:     Each workman on site given a pack of beer as a Christmas box. The Gabion cages are still being filled with the sand stone rubble.

 

 

Wednesday 23rd December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Rain then Dry.

Activity:     The Gabion cages are still being filled with the sand stone rubble and fitted with a large section wooden rail mounted on the top.

 

 

Thursday 24th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Dry clear no Rain.

Activity:     The large section wooden rail mounted on top of the Gabions is being levelled off and cemented into position. (It all looks good).

 

 

Friday 25th December 2015.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Dry.

Activity:     Christmas day no work now until the 4th of January 2016. The field looks like one big building site.

 

HAPPY NEW YEAR 2016.

Monday 4th January 2016.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Dry and overcast.

Activity:     5 workmen on site finishing the Gabions today and doing other field works.

 

Tuesday 5th January 2016.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Wet and Dry mixed.

Activity:     Putting in the drains for the toilet block and consolidating the base.

 

Wednesday 6th January 2016.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Bright and Sunny.

Activity:     The base for the toilet block laid today (yippee) we are getting nearer. The front shooting line is also being dug out with the surplus soil being dropped on the field.

 

 

Thursday 7th January 2016.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Rainy and Windy.

Activity:     The conifer trees to the rear of the back shooting line are being cut down. The clubhouse rear emergency exit door ramp is being built.

 

 

 

Friday 8th January 2016.

Time:        All day.

Weather:    Clear Dry and no Wind.

Activity:     The conifer trees to the rear of the back shooting line are now having their roots grubbed out after being cut down. Drainage is being added around the front of the clubhouse.

 

 

Monday 11th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Dry-Overcast and Cold.

Activity:             Levelling the shooting line area and the spoil dumped further up the field for later use.

 

 

Tuesday 12th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Dry-Overcast and Cold.

Activity:             Front and rear edging being fitted to the whole of the shooting and standing area. The emergency exit ramp edging is blocking the emergency door from opening due to the edge being too high, this will be remedied.

 

 

Wednesday 13th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Bright-Sunny-Dry-Cool.

Activity:             The shooting and standing area is having the sub base hardcore laid. The emergency exit ramp edging has been remedied and a finished rail is to be fitted.

 

 

Thursday 14th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Bright-Sunny-Dry-Cold.

Activity:             The shooting and standing area require additional drainage. The whole area is now having the second layer of hardcore added. The lamp pole is having an edging added to smarten it up.

 

 

Friday 15th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Sunny-Cold.

Activity:             The shooting and standing area are still being finished with hardcore and compacted by a roller up to its final level before the laying of the tarmac surface.

 

 

Monday 18th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Mild Dry Windless.

Activity:             Andy Dawson arrived on site at 1.10pm to discuss with the landscape man (no name) about future works. Later in the day (3.30pm) others arrived on site to set up works for the next day.

 

Tuesday 19th January 2016.

Time: All day.

Weather: Chilly-Dry-no frost.

Activity: Tarmac men arrived early today and have laid the whole of the shooting and standing area with the base layer of tarmac, they have burnt the old wooden fencing panels to warm up their spreading tools.

 

 

Wednesday 20th January 2016.

Time: All day.

Weather: Sunny Clear Sky and Cool.

Activity: The accumulated soil on the field is being spread out up the field to build up the level in the dip.

Weather: Cold Damp rain later.

Activity: No work today No one on site.

 

Friday 22nd January 2016.

Weather:           Over cast Mild no Rain.

Activity:             No work today No one on site (morning). 1.30pm man on site running digger shifting soil.

 

Monday 25th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Bright-Sunny-Warm-little cloud. Later in the morning, rain and high winds.

Activity:             The workers cabin taken away by whom?

 

Tuesday 26th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Dull Very Windy.

Activity:             The Digger removed to go elsewhere. Work started on the short section of the wall on the right hand side of the entrance.

Weather:           Raining Windy Overcast and Miserable.

Activity:             No work today No one on site.

 

Thursday 28th January 2016.

Weather:           Clear Dry Cold.

Activity:             No work in the morning. Afternoon, men back on site doing the car park fencing

 

Friday 29th January 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Cloudy then Bright and with a stiff Wind.

Activity:             Extra Gabion added to car park next to the tree and fencing added on top of the bird’s beak

 

 

Monday 1st February 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Very Windy and Wet.

Activity:             Birds beak fencing being finished and the cemented area covered over to protect it against rain.

Activity:             No work today No one on site.

Weather:           Bright -sunny-and chilly. Light snow on hills.

Thursday 4th February 2016.

Weather:           Overcast and Damp.

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services, to replace the clubhouses original emergency exit door with the correct type of door suitable for wheelchair users (it is wider).

 

 

Friday 5th February 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Dry-Cool-not-Cold.

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services. To build a new entry door into the clubhouse, in the gable end, with the correct type of door suitable for wheelchair users (it is wider). Both of our original metal field entry gates have been removed as scrap metal and the conifer branches have been shredded and the thicker wood dumped in the woods for later disposal.

 

 

Monday 8th February 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Very wet persistent Rain.

Activity:             Electricians, 3 men on site Jack, Nathan, & Josh from complete Building Services. Removing the door electronic fob entry system and the clubhouse lighting switches and moving them to a position by the new gable end door and disposed as previous job by 1.00pm will return to complete when asked.

Wednesday 10th February 2016.

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services. To fit the main door, with 2 new Yale locks, and to close off the old door. NB Steve Giblin was the last person to enter by the clubhouse by the original door before it was closed off and he was the first person to enter the clubhouse by the new door. The new door is now fully dressed.

Weather:           Dry-Sunny-Cold.

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services, has fitted a new waste pipe to our sink and connected it up, then ran it out to our sewer. The main door has been fitted with a door handle inside. One of the electronic door latches as been damaged and will need replacing. Electrician will return to fit new latch

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services, returned to fit the new latch.

Activity:             Fence erector Colin & Scott on site, from Fabbrifen Ltd, but cannot start the job without guidance.

Activity:             The fence men came on site mid-morning with working information and have started fitting the fence along the rear back line and part way along the rear of the clubhouse.

Friday 19th FEBRUARY 2016.

Activity:             Fence erector Colin & Scott on site from Fabbrifen Ltd, and have fitted the pathway fence.

Weather:           Overcast and Cold no Rain yet.

Activity:             Fence erector back on site fitting the pathway fence after alterations.

 

 

Tuesday 23rd FEBRUARY 2016.

Weather:           Bright-Sunny and Cold.

Activity:             Fence erector back on site to finish the clubhouse rear fence. Grass turf delivered to site and now being laid.

Weather:           Cold light snow.

Activity:             Joiner on site, Mr Philip Boreckyi from the complete Building Services, returned to fit the water piping to the sink faucet tap.

 

 

Thursday 25th February 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Cold-Sunny-Clear sky.

Activity:             Grass turf still being laid and will proceed until none is left. David our tree man and his fellow tree man helper, on site preparing to Pollard 10 of the trees at the target end of the field. The hollow deep dipping section of the field at the 70 metre mark is being slowly filled in, but will be delayed until the tree man as finished his work.

 

 

Friday 26th February 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Cold-Sunny-Clear sky.

Activity:             The tree man is still cutting the trees at the target end of the field. Soil is still being delivered and dumped prior to dumping in the hollow deep dipping section of the field at the 70 metre mark.

Activity:             The tree man finished. Soil is still being delivered and dumped prior to dumping in the hollow deep dipping section of the field at the 70 metre mark.

Activity:             Fence erector back on site moving the rear line pathway fence into a new position. Soil is still being dropped off and dumped in a pile and moved by digger down the field into the dip.

Activity:             No one on site. I heard this day that the toilet block is to arrive on the 3rd March.

Weather:           Thunder Hail-Snow-Sleet-Cold and Wet and a bit of Sunshine.

Activity:             More soil dropped off.

 

Tuesday 3rd MARCH 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Early clear and dry some rain later.

Activity:             To-day the toilet block finally arrived and was craned off a low loader and put into its final position on the prepared base. 25 years of waiting for a real toilet, legs finally uncrossed. Yahoo!

Tuesday 8th March 2016.

Weather:           Sleet-Rain-Damp.

Activity:             Field is still being made level in the dip with additional soil moved by digger down the field into the dip.

 

Wednesday 9th March 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Rain.

Activity:             Toilet block and the clubhouse are being fitted with surround drains at ground level and the central lighting standard surround is being re-modelled square.

 

Thursday 10th March 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Still and Dry.

Activity:             The field is still being levelled. Toilet block and the clubhouse are being fitted with surround drains. All finished, now awaiting the final surface of tarmac.

 

 

Friday 11th March 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Still and Dry.

Activity:             The field is now considered level and is now being covered with sand prior to turf being laid. The main entrance into the field is having a heavy duty kerb fitted on the right hand side as you enter.

Weather:           Sunny Clear but Cold.

Activity:             No work to day no one on site.

 

Tuesday 15th March 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Overcast and Mild.

Activity:             Lower field, 60 metres plus being laid with turf. Tarmac men arrived today and have laid the whole of the shooting and standing area with final top coat of tarmac.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Dry-Cold-Sunny.

Activity:             Lower field, 60 metres plus still being laid with turf.

Activity:             Turf laying still proceeding and the digger altering the field’s sides.

Activity:             Turf laying still proceeding ongoing.

 

Wednesday 23rd March 2016.

Weather:           Cold-Day.

Activity:             No work to day no one on site. Pallet of turf dropped off.

 

Thursday 24th March 2016.

Time:                All day.

Weather:           Cold-Dry.

Activity:             Turfing completed it now needs rolling

Activity:             No work was done on the site.

Tuesday 29th March 2016.

Activity:             Turf was rolled from the shooting line to the 30 metre line. Men from the council with theodolites have been marking out the whole field and the shooting area with nail spot points they have spot marked the field with coloured wooden pegs supplied by us.

 

 

Monday 4th April 2016.

Time:                All day

Weather:           Wet-Cold-Overcast

Activity:             White line marking men “Glen and Kev” with their line marking truck based mobile boiler on site, to mark out our front shooting line with numbered lane points, the waiting line and the rear shooting line also with numbered lane points.

 

 

 

 

This concluded the alterations to our club grounds and the fitting of the toilet block / water to our clubhouse.
